Cycle trains

One of the latest and fun ways to travel to school is to join a cycle train. These are similar to walking school buses, but instead of walking children accompanied by an adult volunteer cycle along a designated route. The train picks up children waiting at train stops and cycles to and from school.

As well as learning and practising cycle and road safety skills, it is also great fun.

For more information on cycle trains contact Krista Hobday, Tasman District Council Road Safety Coordinator, ph 543 8551, or email krista.hobday@tdc.govt.nz.

Nayland Primary School

Nayland Primary School has just built a secure cycle cage. Students from the school made boards to decorate the cage and promote bike safety messages.
